Biography for Pam Edstrom


Pam Edstrom started her career in technology PR, first with Tektronix Inc. and then as Microsoft’s first director of public relations. In 1984 she partnered with Melissa Waggener Zorkin, helping to build what is now one of the largest independent strategic communications agencies in the world.

In an industry where many leaders claim sector expertise after a few weeks of work, Pam’s decades of dedication to technology communications walks the talk.

Gutsy, tireless and unafraid of challenges, Pam has been instrumental to the success of past and present clients such as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), MasterCard, Dell, Boeing, and Microsoft.

In 2014, the agency regrouped all North America clients under Pam’s care until the agency named its new North America President, Kass Sells.

Pam’s ingenuity and future-focused vision earn her clients’ trust and respect, and her hard work garners industry accolades along the way.

In 2008, she was named Woman Executive of the Year by the Portland Business Journal, and she has also been recognized as one of PRWeek’s 50 Most Powerful Women in PR and one of its 100 Most Influential PR People of the 20th Century.

In 2010, Pam joined the Board of Directors of the LAGRANT Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships, mentorships, professional development and support for ethnic minorities pursuing advertising, marketing and public relations careers.

Pam’s expertise finds her frequently speaking about business and communications issues at prominent venues, including the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the Swedish government, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, the University of California Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, the Agenda Conference, the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand, the Portland Business Journal’s Power Breakfast and several marketing organizations.
