Sahana Prabhakar brings over 13 years of communication marketing experience across Healthcare, Telecom and Financial sectors. Significant part of her career has been dedicated in advising clients in the Healthcare sector, including her secondment with AstraZeneca India where she was responsible for all internal and external communications for the company in the region.

Sahana’s expertise includes corporate brand management; campaign planning; strategic counsel on product introductions, including branding, medical marketing, multi-channel communication; patient relations and advocacy; government affairs; crisis and issues management; employee engagement and executive profiling.

While at Edelman Malaysia she led and grew the healthcare practice with clients like Astellas, AstraZeneca, Blackmores, Danone, Gilead Sciences, GSK (Rx + Cx), Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi, Sime Darby Oils, Unilever to name a few. She has also successfully developed campaigns for client like J&J and Unilever in collaboration with Ministry of Health. Sahana has also won awards for client campaigns with Pfizer and Novartis. The health team at Edelman Malaysia was the only dedicated health team in the country with deep expertise in healthcare communications.

Sahana started her career with Burson-Marsteller in India, where she worked across various sectors and clients as a part of her Associate Learning Programme. Some of the clients she handled Vodafone, Boston Consulting Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Royal Bank of Scotland, Union Bank of Switzerland, Kotak Mahindra Bank among others.

Sahana holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations & Corporate Communications from Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (Psychology, Economics and English) from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.

Outside of work, Sahana loves travelling and enjoys activities like cycling and yoga.
