HONG KONG — September 19, 2016 — WE Communications today announced that David Hunt will take on the role of Managing Director (MD) of its China operations. Miranda Cai will take the role of Managing Director (MD) of its Shanghai operations.
Hunt, former MD of Publicis Digital (APAC), brings over 25 years’ experience in global communications and digital marketing across both APAC, Europe, Africa and Asia. He will be based in Shanghai and report to Matthew Lackie, Executive Vice President, WE-APAC.
"I'm thrilled to be joining WE at this time. The network’s culture and spirit of collaboration is what attracted me the most to the agency,” said David Hunt, MD of WE China. “I will be looking to lead and support the incredible talent that we have in WE China, working with the team to introduce new services, drive business development and mentor the team to ultimately deliver great work for our clients.”
Hunt brings experience and a strong perspective on the integration of digital communications and marketing. He will be aggressively building out these capabilities to the benefit the agency, his colleagues and clients.
Jason Cao, existing General Manager of WE, Beijing, will report to newly-appointed Hunt.
Cai, former GM of FleishmanHillard (Shanghai), has over 20 years’ experience leading teams in corporate affairs, corporate communications and marketing, having worked in leadership positions at Weber Shandwick, Edelman, and in-house government sector roles in China and North America.
“I highly expect to be a part of a winning team here in APAC and China; to develop more business-centric service offerings to our clients, to shape a group of top talent with integrated marketing communications capabilities in the local marketplace, and to be a pioneer in the emerging sectors and practices of life-sciences and health and wellbeing” said Miranda Cai, MD of WE Shanghai.
Cai will bring her deep experience of the technology and health sectors to the agency’s Shanghai operation. She will also provide strong senior counsel for the agency’s existing clients across all sectors. She will work across a range of WE’s clients in Shanghai including: Blue Nile, Cargill, Etihad airways, Villeroy & Boch and ZTE.
“Technology drives innovation, enables transformation and propels people, markets and brands,” said Executive Vice President, Matthew Lackie. “David’s track record in growing and building successful digital businesses and designing innovative service offerings speaks for itself. Miranda is a market expert who puts the client at the centre of everything she does. Together they will help drive our technology, health, consumer and corporate capabilities forward and are excellent additions to our China operations.”
