WE COMMUNICATIONS CONTINUES SEATTLE EXPANSION WITH NEW GENERAL MANAGER, MATTHEW ASHWORTH

SEATTLE — Jan. 19, 2017 — WE Communications today announced the appointment of Matthew Ashworth as general manager and senior vice president for the agency’s Seattle office. This newly created role further positions the agency to drive growth and expansion amid Seattle’s booming tech industry, including areas such as health and consumer products, where technology is inspiring new innovations and approaches.

Today’s news builds on the agency’s expanding partnerships with new and existing Seattle-based innovators, such as Microsoft, F5, Apptio, Kymeta, K2 and VoiceBox. Over the past year, WE has increased business by more than 20 percent across the Seattle market, including recent wins such as Ste. Michelle Wine Estates.

“Seattle is an important part of our heritage and our future,” said Kass Sells, president of North America. “The market is growing exponentially, driven by technology innovators that span everything from cloud computing to biotech. Whether you are a startup or an established brand, WE understands how technology drives innovation and knows how to craft your story in a way that propels people, markets and your brand forward.”

Ashworth joins WE with 20 years of experience in public relations in the consumer, corporate, government and emerging business sectors. He most recently served as vice president, Technology, at Porter Novelli, where he led the technology practice for the agency’s Seattle office. Before that, he managed communication strategy for business and partner sales at T-Mobile USA.

As GM, Ashworth will be responsible for client development for a range of Seattle-based clients, as well as driving new business across the agency’s key sectors of health, technology and consumer.

“Throughout my career in the Northwest, WE has stood out from the rest, synonymous with excellence, independence and deep technology roots,” Ashworth said. “I’m looking forward to joining an impressive and growing set of leaders who intimately understand the Seattle market.”

“Not only are technology and entrepreneurship in Matt’s DNA, he has a love for the Seattle community and all that it represents,” said Dawn Beauparlant, president of the Technology Sector. “He is no doubt a perfect match for WE, and the right leader to drive our Seattle business forward.”
