#WESupport Each Other
There are a lot of things running through your head the first day at a new internship. Let’s be honest, it can be nerve-wracking.
We cross our fingers and hope to find comrades in our fellow interns, colleagues we can turn to and lean on.
Luckily, one of the first things we learned as WE interns is that it’s not a competitive environment, rather one big team and support system.
This sentiment runs throughout the agency – we’re in this together, and we are all here to support each other.
From intern comradery to mentors, and from managers to teammates, we have all the support we could ever need as we begin our journey at WE! (Stay tuned for next week’s blog to learn more about the intern mentorship program).
As an intern, we found one of our first support systems is other interns. We all started the journey at the same place, not knowing how to use conference room technology and unaware that the best snacks always show up after lunch, but at least we are figuring it out together!
We’re also learning that work friends and colleagues are the folks you can count on for a gut check on a project or email. They’re the people who grab an afternoon coffee with you in order to power through the 3 p.m. slump. And, they’re also eager to celebrate your successes with you, as well provide you with reassurance when you feel like you didn’t quite nail the project. This team mentality and focus on supporting one another can be seen throughout the agency in the form of bonds that last well beyond the internship. For example, even though Lindsey and Sarah are no longer interns and work on different teams across WE, they continue to be great friends and are always willing to lend an ear to each other.
In the end, we consider ourselves lucky that the WE internship sets us up to do our best, learn a lot and make some pretty great friends along the way.
Because let’s face it…
